THE MARY BAG
Mary – named after the creative director Maria is the first bag that was created and the reason behind the design development of the other bags. For such an architected design with very elaborate details, the bag succeeded in keeping its softness and delicacy till its final form. The result of such amalgam between complexity and simplicity made the Mary a Mietis Iconic bag.
The inspiration behind the design itself is the painting Mandolin and Guitar 1924 by Pablo Picasso. Which lead to further research on colour combinations from other iconic paintings by the artist himself. The first Mary bag’s colour combination was inspired by the painting Femme Couchée 1932 which led to the birth of the Mary Couchée bag, followed by the second colour combination inspired by Leaning Harlequin 1901, Which led to the birth of the Mary Harlequin.
